AMURT UK is part of a global network of local AMURT chapters that respond to humanitarian disasters. AMURT is renown for their rapid, low cost, effective responses to crisis as their relief work is conducted largely by teams of dedicated local volunteers who know the area and culture the crisis has happened in.
At the guidance of the AMURT chapter closest to where the disaster has occurred, AMURT UK provides supplies, funding and where appropriate professional expertise. A key part of this work is fundraising activities in the form of events, collections drives or sponsored events so that potentially life saving amounts of money can quickly be sent to the international chapter carrying out the work on the ground. AMURT chapters are renown for their efficient use of funding with 90-95% of all donations going directly to service provision as opposed to covering operational costs.
