AMURT UK is part of a global network of local AMURT chapters that respond to humanitarian disasters. AMURT is renowned for their rapid, low cost, effective responses to crisis. Their relief work is conducted largely by teams of dedicated local volunteers who know the area and culture in which the crisis has occurred.
At the guidance of the AMURT Global office and the chapter closest to where the disaster has occurred, AMURT UK provides supplies, funding and where appropriate professional expertise. A key part of this work is fundraising activities in the form of campaigns and events so that potentially lifesaving amounts of money can quickly be sent to the international chapter carrying out the work on the ground. AMURT chapters are very efficient in their use of funding with 90-95% of all donations going directly to service provision as opposed to covering operational costs.
